Good Idea

"Paris is always a good idea."
-Audrey Hepburn

Our Fall Break journey started out very early in the morning for Sidney, Kat, Alison, and I.  The car picked us up at 6:30AM and drove us to Heathrow for our early flight to Paris.  We were up before the sun, which has been happening a lot more since we moved the clocks back.

What happens when four girls travel together for a week?  There are a lot of suitcases and duffles and backpacks and purses filled with clothes for every occasion and emergency.

After going through security (no TSA...), we got on the plane and took the one hour flight to Paris.  When we arrived, we took the metro to our hostel, put our bags down, and went straight into the city to go sightseeing.

Sacré-Cœur // Sacred Heart
Sacré-Cœur was only a few minutes away from the hostel we were staying at, so we decided to go there first.  The sun was out, but it was a bit chilly.  We climbed up the many steps to get to the top of the hill, and we were rewarded with a fantastic view of the city.

Voila!  Paris!
Since all we had eaten that day were complimentary croissants on the flight, we decided to grab something to eat.  The area around Sacré-Cœur was filled with cafés and little restaurants, and we chose one that looked quaint and picked a table outside.

I don't even remember what we ate since we finished our food in about five minutes (we were hungry...), but I do remember ordering an apple tart.  Enjoy dessert in Paris?  Check.

Always say yes to dessert
Going to the Eiffel Tower was definitely on all of our bucket lists, so we wasted no time and went that night.  It was a clear night so the view from the top was spectacular.

There are three different levels of the Eiffel Tower; the first level, the second level, and the top.  The first time you get a real view of Paris is when you reach the second level.  While we were on the deuxiéme étage, I looked out and saw all of Paris, and thought "I wonder if I can see the Eiffel Tower from here!"  Unfortunately for me, I was thinking out loud, and my friends started laughing at me.  Oh well, we all have those moments...

City of Lights
Since we didn't have cell phone service in Paris, my friends and I were always on the lookout for WiFi, you know, so we could send SnapChats and check-in on FourSquare.

After we descended, another trip to a café was necessary.  We were not going to wait another second for good Parisian dessert, so we stopped at a café near the Eiffel Tower and ordered crêpes (and French fries!).

Always say yes to dessert... and Nutella
The first day in Paris was exhausting, but so much fun.  It was a great start to our week long holiday and a pretty good indication of fabulous things to come.
